So………………..in the end, it was a SLIGHT success?! Great. I really wanted to see more of this series regardless. So, what’s going to happen now, Midnight? What new project will fill in the Thursday slot now?
No new project will be taking its place. As we’re not reaching our Patreon goals, The White Wraith is now on indefinite hiatus.
Errrrrrrrrr…
Wait, is this the end of the entire series, or just the one chapter?
Because this is by far the best of all the comics–better than DZO, better than GunRiot, etc. Highest density of badassery and grittiness of all the comics.
I’m happy to hear you’ve enjoyed The White Wraith so much. It was a lot of fun to write and, hopefully, I’ll have a chance to return to it in the future. A longer write-up about the status of The White Wraith can be found here: https://dangerzoneone.com/2023/03/12/webcomic-updates/
I’m not sure if that’s the best plan. Farah could probably get a better deal for the snow diamond than you could; especially if those had been reported stolen and can be individually identified (unique radiation signature?).
Also, if Farah ever finds out you kept a snow diamond for yourself (she DOES have a lot of connections), she will NOT be happy. Of course, if she does find out, you could just give her that 40% she’s owed.
Then there’s the suit; it took a beating in that mission. It’s going to need repairs and being a prototype, that can’t be easy to come by (assuming SHE can’t do the repairs herself and acquired the tools and materials she’d need when she first got the suit). In the end, she might only make enough to put food on her table for a few weeks.
People have been doing webcomics for years without earning a single dime for it. Webcomics don’t require money in order to make. All it takes is time, patience and of course, effort. These stories can still be done without monetary involvement. All it takes is shifting priorities and reorganizing of schedules. It would take longer depending, but it can be done.
Usually I wouldn’t even respond to a comment this idiotic and clueless. Do you honestly think that all of the artists who work on Danger Zone One, The White Wraith, GunRiot, and Sailor Justice do so for free? All of them are paid–and rightfully so for the high quality of work they produce. Also, what about hosting expenses, domain expenses, etc?
Congrats, “webcomics don’t require money in order to make” is the single most ignorant, misinformed comment I’ve seen since I started writing webcomics in 2016.
Yeah, those kind of comments are cringe worthy and clueless. In the beginning there were those who put their work up gratis because it was a new medium, they were the pioneers. Sluggy Freelance was one of the first that I know of. But the medium has changed dramatically over the years. There are still hobbiests and those trying to break into the comics arena, but there are a lot of highly talented artists, writers, colorist and others who rely on their work to put bread on the table. I don’t know how the revenue income from advertising works but every little bit helps. I’m a patron of about ten comics including Midnights. I’d do more but that’s about all my budget allows. So no, you don’t HAVE to fund these artists, but if you are a regular reader and enjoy the genre, regularly read and eagerly anticipate the next installment the consider giving a little back and become a Patreon of your favorites.
I’m fortunate to be in the position to support more than one. And it’s not just my favorites. I’ll also kick in to a new and promising artist and help them along. It’s a delight to see how one’s artwork evolve and improve over time. Tom’s Gunnergrieg Court is a prime example. TANSTAAFL!
Say “psyche,” right now.
